Intro to Ashtanga Workshop, for beginners via Zoom, Saturday March 13th, 13-15 EET (Helsinki Time Zone). No prior yoga experience necessary. In this 2-hour workshop you will learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga system of yoga (Pattabhi Jois style Ashtanga) including how to breathe properly using Ujjayi-style breath, how to perform Suryanamaskara (Sun Salutations A & B), and some basic asanas (postures). You will also be introduced to bandhas (locks) and drishthi (gazing point) — techniques specific to the Ashtanga style of yoga practice. By attending this workshop you will be introduced to the tools with which you can work as you develop your proficiency in yoga on-the-mat in any regular/ongoing ashtanga classes — guided (led) and/or Mysore style classes (virtual or in-person).
